Dr. Margy Bowes, The Postpartum Psychologist, Matrescence Guide

About The Postpartum Psychologist

Welcome! I’m Dr Margy Bowes, a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist, certified Motherhood Studies Practitioner and certified Seasons of Matrescence ® Educator and Guide. With over 20 years of experience working in the NHS and public sector, I’ve supported countless people through life’s most challenging transitions.

But it was when I became a mother that I truly understood the unique emotional journey women face in early motherhood - an experience known as matrescence. Like many new mums, I struggled with feelings that traditional antenatal and postnatal support didn’t fully address.

That’s why I launched The Postpartum Psychologist - to fill a critical gap in support for mothers navigating this profound transition. Drawing on my professional expertise and my own lived experience with postpartum challenges, I create and deliver online education and support tailored specifically for new mums.

My mission is to empower you with evidence-based tools, compassionate guidance and a deep understanding of matrescence - so you can embrace your motherhood journey with confidence, calm and self-compassion.

Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, isolated or simply curious about what’s happening inside you, know that you’re not alone. Here, you’ll find practical resources designed to help you adjust to your new role and identity, and to support your emotional wellbeing every step of the way. Thank you for trusting me to be part of your motherhood journey.
